Robert Fitzpatrick’s mission is to create both physical spaces and institutional avenues for Black flourishing. He hopes to converse, collaborate, and support anyone who shares that mission. Currently working in community organizing and sustainable agriculture development, he now writes that vision into existence, reflecting on studies and experiences.

His foundation in sociology and international development began at the University of Notre Dame, where he conducted independent field research centered on sustainable agriculture in Costa Rica, led trainings on multicultural belonging, and volunteered both in South Bend and around the world. His research methods include a key focus on living and working alongside environmental caretakers. Such experiences accent his writing to produce a distinct, balanced, and grounded perspective.

Robert reflects that his “research and volunteer experiences immersed me in the immense cultural capital possessed by communities of color. They have also exposed me to economic and political obstacles that stand in the way of well-being.” He plans to continue studying and leveraging mechanisms where food security, economic security, and environmental security intersect.
